Out of respect for the environment and natural resources, and in view of the aims and commitments resulting from the European and Portuguese energy policy and the Quality, Environment and Safety Policy Statement, REN has always attempted to reduce its environmental impact through energy management, minimising energy consumption whenever possible and promoting energy efficiency initiatives.
REN has two facilities considered to be intensive consumers of energy: the REN Armazenagem and the REN Atlântico Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal.
Promotion of renewable energies
As the concession holder for the national energy transmission grid, REN has invested heavily in the introduction of renewable energy into the grid, where its main role is to provide access and capacity for the transmission of renewable energy. REN believes it is doing its best to bring about the effective integration of sources of renewable energy.
