AGIR Prize receives 131 applications

More than 100 projects were submitted to the AGIR Award. A success that REN- Redes Energéticas Nacionais sees as proof of the relevance and need of such an initiative supported by a strong communication campaign.

The deadline for submission of projects ended March 6 with a total of 131 submissions from all around the country. Lisbon and OPorto led the nominations, having, in the global, been the Portuguese organizations, non-profit organizations and civil society in the North region to present the largest number of applications. Outnumbered, were also received nominations from the Alentejo, Algarve and Madeira.

"Create a job creates much more than a job" is the motto of this first edition of the AGIR Award that, every year, will select an area of social intervention and distinguish three projects - projects that make a difference and give effective response to society problems. This year the chosen area is job creation, with special attention for projects promoting employment across the generations.

The 131 proposals will now be evaluated by the Bolsa de Valores Sociais (BVS), which will make the technical verification of all applications, and along with REN will then select the finalists. The announcement of the winners will be made in May and the three projects that stand out in terms of social innovation in the areas of job creation will be awarded with monetary prizes amounting to 30,000 euros to the first, fifteen thousand euros, the second, and five thousand euros to third.

Prize-winners will be afterwards escorted by the BVS that will monitor the use of funds donated, as well as the real social impact of the support provided by REN.

The AGIR Award fits in the policy of engagement with the community and Social innovation of REN and consists of its latest commitment in the area of corporate social responsibility.
