FIRST PORTUGUESE VENTILATORS DELIVERED TO HOSPITAL DE SANTO ANTÓNIO

The first ventilators "made in Portugal" developed by CEiiA - Center for Excellence and Innovation in the Automotive Industry, were delivered today to Hospital de Santo António, in Porto. The symbolic handover ceremony of the first "Atena" took place at the CEiiA premises in Matosinhos, in a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Science, which was also attended by REN's President.

REN played a key role in financing the development of "Atena", by guaranteeing, together with three other institutions - EDP and Gulbenkian and Fundação La Caixa - the purchase of 100 ventilators, when the project was presented, in March.

The ventilators acquired by the group of patrons will begin to be delivered in the coming days. However, at this morning's ceremony, the Prime Minister showed a greater ambition for this new Portuguese industry: obtaining the necessary certifications so that the "made in Portugal" ventilator can compete in international markets, where at this time there is a huge shortage of material from that nature.
