Review of the five years of REN’s Chair on Biodiversity presented in Lisbon

 

REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais, in partnership with the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the University of Porto (UP), have marked the five years of REN's Chair on Biodiversity this Friday, 14 February, in Lisbon, by hosting its 3rd Symposium. Francisco Moreira, coordinator of REN's Chair on Biodiversity and Researcher of CIBIO/InBIO of the UP, and Francisco Parada, head of REN's Quality, Environment and Safety area, were responsible for the public presentation of the review of the Chair's five years of existence.

The 3rd Symposium of REN's Chair on Biodiversity, which took place in Auditorium 1 of FIL Meeting Center in Lisbon, was also be attended by Antonella Battaglini, founder and CEO of the Renewables Grid Initiative, whospoke about nature and the high-voltage network. Antonella Battaglini is also a member of the specialised group on electrical interconnections in the European Commission, having, in 2015, received the Global Leadership prize awarded by the Tallberg Foundation.

Another guest of the Symposium was Nathalie Devulder, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and R&D at RTE France. She is also the Chairwoman of the Committee for Biodiversity of the EpE (Entreprises pour l'Environnement) and spoke about the "Business for Nature" initiative.

The event was also be marked by a discussion, moderated by Pedro Ávila (REN), on the topic of "InovNature", in which Luís Seca (INESC TEC), Nuno Lourenço (CeiiA) and Rui Seabra (ElectricBlue) participated.

REN's Chair is an initiative of REN with the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology - FCT and CIBIO-InBIO of the UP, which seeks to deepen scientific knowledge in the area of biodiversity, to communicate the success stories in this area and to bring together universities and companies.
