Estremoz – Alandroal double line

Project Goals

  • Creating the necessary grid conditions for the electrical supply of the Évora – Elvas/Caia railway section, a priority railway axis of the Strategic Plan for Transport and Infrastructure – FERROVIA 2020.
  • Establishing an aerial connection between the Estremoz substation and the new Alandroal substation, which is part of the project to construct a new railway connection between Évora and the Railway East Line (Évora Norte – Elvas/Caia), managed by IP – Infraestruturas de Portugal, incorporated within the Southern International Corridor.
  • Enabling the flow of the production of photovoltaic energy, which has been of increasing interest to promoters for the development of new photovoltaic power plant projects.
  • Helping to meet the renewable energy targets set out in the Portuguese National Energy and Climate Plan 2030 (to accommodate new renewable generation).
