The National Energy Commission issued Exempt Resolution No. 234, dated 13 May 2026, authorising Transemel to carry out the “Parinacota 66 kV Substation Expansion” project, pursuant to Article 102 of the General Law on Electrical Services.
This resolution constitutes a new expansion project for the company, aimed at enabling the connection of the BESS Sonic storage project, as well as incorporating available capacity for future developments in the area, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the electricity system in the Arica and Parinacota region.
The project involves the expansion of the Parinacota substation through the addition of new bays at the 66 kV level, thereby enabling the integration of energy storage solutions, which are increasingly important for the efficient and flexible operation of the system.
In accordance with the provisions of the resolution, the works must become operational within a maximum period of 31 months, whilst also taking into account various compliance requirements associated with key project milestones, such as engineering development, the issuing of purchase orders and commissioning.
With this authorisation, Transemel continues to make progress in developing enabling infrastructure for the energy transition, reinforcing its commitment to the sustainable growth of the transmission system and the incorporation of new technologies.
