The Arica-Parinacota Environmental Assessment Commission has approved the “Azapa Switching Substation and 220 kV Switching Line” project, submitted by Transemel, a subsidiary of the REN Group.

The project involves the construction of a facility that will enable the existing 1×220 kV Cóndores-Parinacota line to be switched off, thereby forming part of the National Electricity System.

The project’s Environmental Impact Statement was submitted for environmental assessment in April 2025 and was approved on 11 May 2026.
