On September 1, Chile's Ministry of Energy published in the Legal Gazette [Diario Oficial de la República de Chile] the list of companies of strategic interest to the nation, conceding this status to Transemel and 75 other companies in the country.

The given status confirms that the services provided by Transemel have a great strategic interest for the Chilean regional and national economy, considering its public purpose and that an eventual shutdown of the company could cause serious damage to health, the country's economy, the supply of the population or national security. This classification allows Transemel to guarantee a better service to our end customers, while forcing us to do our work in the highest standard possible, something that is always on our mind.

The northern region of Chile, where most of the company's assets are located, is characterized by the strong influence of the mining industry and by a significant growth of renewable energy generation projects, due to the high solar radiation in that part of the country. Additionally, our facilities are the ones that allow numerous communities to have access to electric power, so this increased security of supply is of direct benefit to them.
