Reinforcing its growth strategy in the country, Transemel, a Chilean electricity transmission company controlled by REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais, operator of the electricity transmission and natural gas transport network in Portugal, submitted the most competitive bid of 31.

The works represent a significant advance for the security and quality of the electricity supply in the municipality of Calama.

Transemel's proposal was the only one that met both the technical and economic requirements, thus providing a direct benefit to the city's inhabitants and strengthening the energy infrastructure in the north of the country, while also allowing for the incorporation of renewable energy projects in the area.
This new award adds to a series of milestones in recent months that have consolidated Transemel's strategic role in Chile's energy backbone. Last February, the company was awarded the development of four new projects in different regions of the country and, in April, it acquired new transmission assets from CMPC, corresponding to a 190-kilometre network located in the Metropolitan, Biobío and La Araucanía regions.

Thus, in the coming years, Transemel will operate a total of thirteen substations in eight regions of the country which, together with nearly 300 km of lines, will strengthen the supply to residential areas. It should be noted that this achievement is the result of joint efforts by the Transemel and REN teams and is part of the Portuguese group's growth strategy in the electricity transmission sector in Chile, through projects that contribute to the achievement of energy transition goals.
