REN promotes safety in forestry work

Approximately 400 people were present at the 3rd Easement Management Forum, which REN promoted and which this year was dedicated to the topic of 'Safety in Forestry Work', in the National Exhibition Centre in Santarém.

In this initiative, contractors and service providers of the forest sector discussed the development of preventive measures to ensure the safety of all who work in the industry and also had the opportunity to get to know the entire fire-prevention approach that REN has been carrying out with multiple entities.

The considerations on the topic were accompanied by interventions from highly respected experts in the area, such as: Major Paul Poiares (GNR), João Fernandes (ICNF), Luís Fragoso (AON), Pedro Marques (REN's Easements and Assets), who shared their knowledge and experience about forestry activity and operations and the design and implementation of good practices, especially in the seasons when fire risk is bigger.

In addition to these interventions, António Sousa, President of the National College of Forestry, Rogério Rodrigues, President of the Governing Board of the ICNF, João Gaspar, head of REN's Easements and Assets, Pedro Sierra Ramos, Chairman of the Board of ANEFA, and Carlos Montemor from ACT, took part in the discussion on the Regulation of Forestry Operations.

At the end of this event, António Sousa, President of the National College of Forestry, Rogério Rodrigues, President of the Governing Board of the ICNF, João Gaspar, head of REN's Easements and Assets, Pedro Sierra Ramos, Chairman of the Board of ANEFA, and Carlos Montemor from ACT, took part in the discussion on the Regulation of Forestry Operations.
For João Gaspar, head of the Easements and Assets area, the goal was achieved: 'creating a culture of safety in everyone, namely in those who are the most exposed to risk in their professional practice'. João Gaspar also emphasized that what is most important is 'to create the conditions for all workers to safely arrive home at the end of the day.'
