REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais has been recognised by the Financial Times as one of the 30 best-performing European companies in terms of climate action, featuring in the Europe’s Climate Leaders 2026 ranking and significantly improving its position compared to the previous edition.
At European level, REN climbed 108 places, reaching 28th place in the ranking (2nd in Portugal), compared to the 136th position recorded in 2025. The analysis carried out by the ranking revealed consistent progress in reducing emissions and aligning with best sustainability practices, meaning this improvement in overall performance resulted in a score of 78.8% (74.2% in 2025).
This recognition by the Financial Times is the main highlight of a series of international awards recently bestowed upon REN, which underscore the consistency of its strategy and the quality of its reporting and communication capabilities. Among these, the VEGA Awards 2025, awarded to REN’s Integrated Report in the Annual Report category, and the Award of Excellence at the Communicator Awards 2026, in the Annual Report – Corporation or Business category, stand out.
It is also worth noting that Margarida Ferreirinha, REN’s Director of Sustainability and Communication, was honoured with the CSO of the Year – Silver award during the Grand Conference on Sustainable Business. This award recognises Chief Sustainability Officers for their leadership in promoting sustainable practices within their organisations.
Taken together, these accolades reflect REN’s commitment to international best practices in sustainability, governance and communication, consolidating its position as a leading operator in the European context and its role in the energy transition.
