Transemel opens its new corporate office in Chile: a space steeped in history, purpose and Portuguese charm

On 14 July, Transemel took a further step on its path to growth in Chile by opening its new corporate headquarters, bringing together more than 50 people, including executives from the REN Group, officials from the national electricity sector and the company’s entire team.

“This new headquarters reflects the pace of growth we are currently experiencing. But we also wanted it to reflect who we are: a Portuguese-owned company that sees work as a purpose-driven journey. Each room has a name and a story, a statement of how we understand work and how we want to contribute to Chile’s energy development,” said Rodrigo Guerrero, managing director of Transemel.

The ceremony was attended by João Conceção and Gonçalo Morais, directors of the REN Group; Brígida Palma, CFO of REN; and Manuel Campos de Magalhães, the Portuguese Consul. Also present were Marta Cabeza, Superintendent of the SEC; Mauricio Funes, Acting Executive Secretary of the National Energy Commission; Javier Tapia, Executive Director of Transmisoras de Chile; and Daniela Maldonado, Director of Communications at Acenor.

Transemel consolidates its presence in Chile

The company currently operates in nine regions of the country, from Arica to Biobío, with over 400 kilometres of power lines and five substations in operation. In addition to these assets, there are nine projects at various stages of development which, once completed, will increase its operational capacity by 60 per cent, rising from five to 13 substations.

This growth is also having a geographical impact. In the south-central region, Transemel is working to strengthen electricity connection capacity in municipalities facing energy shortages. Before the end of 2026, the company will commission two new projects in that area: one in Maule and another in Ñuble.

Against this backdrop, the new corporate headquarters serves as the base from which Transemel is planning its next phase of expansion in Chile.
