REN Portgás Distribuição, SA, a company fully owned by REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais, has signed a contract today, 28 February, with Viamapa, part of the French Geosat group, during a ceremony held during the State visit of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, to Portugal.
The contract aims to ensure the continuous updating of Portgás' Geographic Information System (GIS), guaranteeing the reliability and accuracy of the land registry data for the gas distribution network.
The agreement with Viamapa, a company within the French Geosat group, strengthens Portgás' commitment to modernising and digitising its infrastructure, thereby promoting a more efficient and sustainable management of its assets.
The service provision includes topographic surveys, mapping and land registry updates, data integration into the GIS, and compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements. The initial contract term is 12 months, with automatic renewal for two additional periods of the same duration.
Sustainability and the development of the gas sector have driven Portgás to invest in innovation. The company has recently been awarded the “Inovadora Evolution” status by COTEC, a public recognition of its commitment to leadership in Innovation and Sustainability.
In 2023, Portgás became the first Portuguese company to achieve joint certification for Quality, Environment, Safety, RDI – Research, Development and Innovation, Business Continuity Management System and Asset Management.
