Wind power production in Portugal reached a new historical peak on January 16th, Tuesday, at 5:30 pm, with a peak of 4917 MW.
The recorded value corresponds to 63% of the national electricity consumption at that time.
The previous maximum recorded by the National Electric System had been achieved on October 17, 2023, at 2:30 am, with a production of 4843 MW.
Throughout January 16th, the total electricity consumption reached 167 GWh, with a peak of 8,553 MW at 7:30 pm. Renewable production supplied 88% of the national consumption and the export balance, with wind power accounting for 42%. The trade balance with foreign countries was export-oriented, with 50 GWh. This year, up to this date, renewable production represented 74% of the national electricity consumption.
