REN joins the ENERGÉTICO project to tackle energy poverty in Portugal

  • More than 660,000 Portuguese people live in extreme energy poverty.
  • Portuguese households waste over €120 annually on avoidable energy consumption.
  • The project aims to contribute to a 35% reduction in primary energy consumption by 2030.
  • REN, ERSE, ADENE, EDP, Floene, and Fundação Galp are among the project's partners.

REN is one of the founding members of the ENERGÉTICO project, an initiative led by ENTRAJUDA to combat energy poverty in Portugal, affecting more than two million people. The project focuses on promoting energy literacy and efficiency, reducing waste, and encouraging more sustainable energy use.

With the goal of reducing primary energy consumption by 35% by 2030, ENERGÉTICO provides tools such as consumption simulators and guidance on best energy practices. Simple actions, such as eliminating standby energy use, are estimated to save households over €120 annually.

The project, which also counts EDP, Floene, Fundação Galp, ERSE, and ADENE as founding partners, reinforces a collective commitment to tackling energy poverty and promoting a more sustainable future.
