Transemel is one of the companies recognised by HuellaChile's National Carbon Management Programme.

The Chilean electric transport operator, part of the REN Group, has been part of this programme since 2021, under which it is committed to developing initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint.

HuellaChile is a programme run by the Chilean Ministry of the Environment that promotes the quantification, reporting and management of corporate GHG emissions in the public and private sectors.

The programme distinguishes participating organisations on four levels, ranging from voluntary carbon footprint quantification to a declaration of excellence.
The Chilean electricity company's participation in this programme, where it currently ranks at level 1, is in line with REN's decarbonisation strategy and is the result of work carried out by Transemel in conjunction with the Operational Sustainability Department, which collaborated on the methodologies for calculating scope 3 emissions. During 2025, the company plans to participate in the Sustainability Academy to train its own staff and contractors.

Among the initiatives adopted to achieve this goal are the reduction of SF6 leaks and the progressive involvement of the supply chain, which has meant an investment of around USD 33,000 per year.

For the Transemel team, participation in this national project ‘is completely natural for us, as we are convinced that we want to contribute deeply to society through our work,' says Rodrigo Guerrero. The General Manager of the Chilean electricity company recognises that HuellaChile will also bring benefits at different levels, such as ‘improving energy efficiency and reducing energy costs', and "although we are still a small company in the Chilean energy sector, leading, in a way, a decisive change that will take the sector to full sustainability, first and foremost, and generate a net positive impact.
