REN joins global appeal to fight corruption

REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais is one of over 500 companies worldwide that has joined the Anti-Corruption Call launched at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2023. This "call to action," intended to mark the 20th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), appeals to the private sector to join forces with governments to intensify the fight against corruption and establish good governance as an essential pillar of a sustainable and inclusive global economy.

REN joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative in 2005, based on ten fundamental principles in the areas of human rights, labor practices, environmental protection, and anti-corruption. The company commits to aligning its strategy and operations with these principles, providing information on the progress of their implementation.

As such, within its sustainability strategy, REN's actions are guided by the best practices of international ethics and governance, involving stakeholders and promoting a culture of aversion to corruption and risk control. REN's Code of Conduct, constantly under review, frames the actions of its employees and other stakeholders, aiming to be a reference in terms of legality, good faith, transparency, good management, and environmental awareness.

REN's Integrity Policy defines the principles of conduct and applicable duties for REN employees and other partners to prevent the commission of illicit acts, including corruption, money laundering, and terrorism financing. The company also has a Corruption Risk Prevention and Related Offenses Plan, having developed an anonymous and confidential mechanism for reporting possible irregularities.

The Anti-Corruption Call was developed at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2023 and presented at the Conference of the States Parties (CoSP10) on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the UNCAC.
