REN signs pact to promote youth employment

REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais signed the 'More and Better Jobs for Young People Pact' promoted by the Portuguese State Secretariat for Work and by Foundation José Neves, with the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, committing to hire, train, and develop young people, guaranteeing them better working conditions.

This pact was signed by 50 of the largest Portuguese companies, and arrives in the wake of the publication by Foundation José Neves of White Paper 'More and better jobs for young people', which identified youths as one of the most vulnerable groups in the labor market, with a unemployment rate significantly higher than that of the general population, and with this vulnerability worsening in times of economic downturn.

With seven per cent of its employees aged under 29, REN commits to increasing, by 2026, the number of youth hires, the number of young people with better remuneration conditions, the number of open-ended contracts, and the number of youths in the company's senior management, through a set of defined targets.

The 'More and Better Jobs for Young People Pact' also iincludes the Business Roundtable Portugal Association, the Portuguese National Youth Council, the Portuguese Institute of Employment and Vocational Training and the Youth Employment Observatory, the latter responsible for monitoring the Pact.
