In view of the severe impact of Storm Kristin, which caused significant damage to homes, businesses and infrastructure in various parts of the country, REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais and Fidelidade, as part of their Social Responsibility policies and in response to the most urgent needs of the population, decided to join forces to support the most affected communities.
In this context, REN and Fidelidade will provide around 31,000 square metres of tarpaulins, equivalent to four and a half football pitches, for the temporary protection of infrastructure damaged by the storm, namely the roofs of homes and commercial establishments, until it is possible to carry out permanent repairs.
The materials are on their way to the municipalities of Leiria, Pombal and Coimbra, areas particularly affected by the bad weather, which will coordinate their distribution as soon as logistically possible to the parishes and populations, enabling a rapid response and mitigating additional risks resulting from exposure to adverse weather conditions.
With this joint initiative, REN and Fidelidade reinforce their commitment to supporting populations in times of greatest vulnerability, putting their resources at the service of protecting people and communities.
