REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais donates a vehicle to the parish of São Torcato, in the municipality of Guimarães, as part of the 'Juntar São Torcato' social project. This is an initiative that will contribute to increasing the ability for social response to over a hundred families in the parish.
This project supports families not only with food and psychological assistance but also by carrying out small home repairs and by lending geriatric items. During the pandemic, 'Juntar São Torcato' was responsible for supporting over 300 people in the municipality, around 10% of the local population.
Use of the vehicle may also be granted to institutions in the municipality that request it, as well as to the Green Brigade, which consists of students and community members who carry out environmental actions, such as cleaning the river or public roads.
For Alberto Martins, President of the Parish Council of São Torcato, 'REN's donation of this vehicle is a key element to helping and making the ‘Juntar São Torcato' project grow. We thank REN for this compassionate donation, which will greatly help the people of this town'.
'At REN, we promote engagement with and support of local communities, by seeking to develop programmes and initiatives suited to each context, in order to encourage the development of the populations where we operate', explains João Conceição, Executive Director at REN.
