REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais donated a vehicle to the Social Support Institution of the Parish of Bucelas, in Loures, which will contribute to an improvement in the provision of social services in the region. Officially recognised as being of public utility, this institution has helped the socially disadvantaged people of the parish since 1985, with services such as a day centre, a home support service, a crèche, a pre-school, a social canteen and food support.
The vehicle donated by REN will boost the institution's ability to distribute food and transport people, with two new projects being developed by the institution - the construction of a new crèche for 84 children and a residential structure for the elderly with 25 beds.
According to Ana Paula Lamosa Pinto, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, 'the vehicle will be essential to meet the needs of the users, who are mostly part of vulnerable groups and who highly depend on us. It is a privilege and a great honour for this Institution to be deserving of the trust of a company as large and prestigious as REN.'
'We are pleased to support the social services in the region and hope that this vehicle will contribute to the well-being of the citizens of the communities concerned,' says Margarida Ferreirinha, Head of Communication and Sustainability at REN.
With over 1,000 members, the Social Support Institution of the Parish of Bucelas aims to help those who need it most, amongst a broad spectrum that includes the elderly, children and the community in general, totalling 400 people.
