REN launches job creation support award

The AGIR Award is the latest commitment by REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais - in the area of corporate social responsibility. The award seeks to provide encouragement and support for initiatives that respond to social problems. In its first year the AGIR Award will back job creation.

Every year the AGIR Award will select an area of social intervention and choose three projects. In this first year the chosen area is job creation, with special attention for projects promoting employment across the generations.

REN CEO, Rui Cartaxo, said 'Through this project REN will support projects that make a difference and which respond to social problems'. The AGIR Award is directed towards non-profit associations, companies and organisations. The top project will receive €30,000, with the runner-up receiving €15,000 and the third-placed receiving €5,000. Project applications must be submitted between 6 January and 6 March 2014.

The projects will be chosen by REN in partnership with the Social Stock Exchange, which will track and monitor the funds donated to each of the supported projects, and will assess the actual social impact of REN's support.

REN and the AGIR Award

To promote the AGIR Award, REN has developed a campaign based on the idea that 'creating a job creates much more than a job'. The goal is to illustrate the many positive consequences resulting from the creation of a job, the knock-on effect that touches many people along a value chain. The campaign will involve REN employees and their children.
