REN participates in the European civil protection exercise Cascade’2019

REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais is part of Cascade'2019, a European civil protection exercise organized by the Portuguese National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, in collaboration with the Directorate-General of the Maritime Authority. 
 
From the Portuguese National Command Post for the exercise, located at the Sintra air base, REN's specific missions are to put into operation, both internally and externally, its participation in the defined scenarios; to have a Liaison Officer for the Portuguese National Operational Coordination Centre and to put into operation a response support cell, to articulate all its participation in the exercise.
 
The objective of Cascade'2019 is to test the joint and integrated response capacity of the National Civil Protection System and of the European Union, in a scenario that is expected to have multiple and complex emergency situations caused by earthquakes, extreme weather conditions, flooding in watercourses, dam accidents, accidents in industrial complexes and maritime pollution.
