REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais subscribed to the CEO's Guide on Human Rights of the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD Portugal), an initiative aimed at encouraging business leaders to promote the defence of human rights and the improvement of people's living conditions.
For Rodrigo Costa, REN's Chairman, 'respect for Human Rights is something that should not have to be remembered. Unfortunately, reality tells us otherwise, and this kind of initiative helps to put this priority on the agenda of the leaders of all kinds of organisations. That is the reason for our association with this BCSD initiative', explains Rodrigo Costa, REN's CEO.
The CEO's Guide to Human Rights identifies important human rights issues that challenge companies to act, since regulation is increasingly demanding and aligned with the expectations of investors and society at large. There are now 38 Portuguese national entrepreneurs and managers who have made a pledge and who are challenging their peers to a greater ambition in promoting human rights in their organisations and value chains, going beyond risk management and compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks, in the pursuit of positive changes in people's lives.
