REN has signed an agreement with the National School of Firefighters (ENB) which has led to the donation of a very high voltage pylon for training.
The donated type MTA19 steel pylon, which is 23 metres tall, weighs seven tonnes, has four platforms and an access ladder, will help improve the training conditions for firefighters and other civil protection agents.
José Ferreira, President of the ENB, says this equipment is very important and it will “allow the School to provide training in high-angle rescue and working at heights. “It is another innovation in the ENB’s development, alongside the newly opened Simulation and Virtual Reality Centre and the training field opening in the next quarter.”
This agreement is a continuation of the cooperation between the two institutes in 2011 as part of REN’s Social Responsibility policy. As part of this agreement, the School – which trains Portuguese firefighters and which is the leading first aid, safety and firefighting training centre – will train REN staff on how to deal with forest fires.
