REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais came first in the second Açoreana Risk Management Awards. It was the winner in the Risk Management - Large Companies category.
The initiative, which is sponsored by Diário Económico newspaper, recognises and rewards companies and their managers who have excelled in the risk management of their companies.
Joao Botelho, Buildings and General Services Director at REN, represented the different departments that play a decisive role in the company's risk management at the award ceremony. 'It's a great honour to receive this award. This issue is appearing more and more on Portuguese companies' agendas and it isone to which REN devotes particular attention ', he said. 'As a public service provider, REN focuses on management of insurable and non-insurable risks in the business. This is the only way that we can guarantee the safety, security and reliability of our operation. That's why this award is a stimulus for REN to carry on its work of the last few years', he said.
The judges that assessed the candidates and chose the winners were Fernando Inverno, Chairman of the Açoreana Executive Committee, António Costa, Editor in Chief of Diário Económico, and a number of well-known personalities in the world of business management, such as António Gomes Mota, António Saraiva, Andrea Bertoldi and Manuel Cruz.
