As part of its 'Heroes of all Species' education programme, REN, in partnership with Quercus Ribatejo and Estremadura Regional Centre, has published the book 'Once upon a time ... in Nature'.
This book, available now in the Quercus virtual store, is a compilation of stories by Cláudia Silva, illustrated by Porto artist Nicolau Fernandes, dedicated to nature and all the fantastic creatures that are part of it.
This selection of ten stories is based on Contos da Natureza (Nature Stories), a fortnightly column in the Quercus Ambiente (Quercus Environment) magazine. They are intended to increase readers' appreciation of the importance of all living things and their ecosystems, with stories that are told in an exciting and captivating way.
The 'Heroes of all Species' initiative was launched by REN in 2015. Aimed at younger children it seeks to increase the community's awareness of the need to protect biodiversity, preserve the Portuguese forest and conserve animal and plant species that are endangered or facing extinction.
