REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais has already accepting applications for the tenth edition of the AGIR Award. Until 28 April 2023, non-profit projects may be submitted, which will help promote sustainable development by delivering solutions that contribute to the achievement of one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) created in 2015 by the United Nations. These SDGs are framed within the 2030 Agenda, a global initiative that integrates 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 related targets to be implemented by all countries.
The theme of AGIR 2023 reflects REN's commitment to the 2030 Agenda, which is the result of joint work by governments and citizens around the world to create a new global model to end poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, protect the environment, and combat climate change.
Applications can be submitted at www.stone-soup.net and the announcement of the selected projects will be made in November 2023. The selection of the three best applications is the responsibility of REN, in partnership with STONE SOUP, the entity accompanying and monitoring the use of the funds donated to each supported project, as well as assessing the actual social impact of the granted support. The winner of the first prize is granted a monetary sum of thirty thousand euros, the second fifteen thousand euros, and the third five thousand euros.
The AGIR Award is part of the REN's policy of Social Innovation and Involvement with the Community. This initiative seeks to support structural projects that have a direct impact on the population and community. Every year, the AGIR Award chooses an area of social action and awards three projects. The most recent editions were dedicated to the topics of 'Promotion of the environment, biodiversity, and combating climate change' (2022), 'Social Innovation in Response to COVID-19' (2021), 'Promotion of Employment for People in Vulnerable Situations' (2020), 'Promotion of Academic Success and Combating Early School Leaving' (2019), 'Natural Heritage Preservation' (2018), 'Labour Inclusion of People with Disabilities' (2017), 'Fighting Poverty and Social Exclusion' (2016), 'Active Aging' (2015), and 'Job Creation' (2014).
